Building a Nissan R35 GTR : Installing a Titanium Catback Exhaust System & Custom Steering Wheel!


We've been slowly modifying our 2010 Nissan GT-R, getting it ready for one of our lucky supporters to take it home. In today's episode of throtl, we replace the factory exhaust system with a new titanium catback exhaust from Valvemaster.

This isn't your ordinary exhaust system. The Valvemaster exhaust system is equipped with a remote control valve that allows you to change the sounds of the exhaust with the push of a button. When the valve is closed, the exhaust sounds similar to a stock exhaust. When the valve is open, the exhaust is significantly louder, allowing you to hear those RPMs roar.

Installing the Valvemaster exhaust wasn't too difficult, the process is similar to installing a normal exhaust, there is just one extra step to take because of the valve system. We started off by unbolting the stock exhaust and removing it from the exhaust hangers. Then we started bolting up the new exhaust and inserted the new exhaust gaskets. Next, we hooked up the valve system to power and ran a vacuum line from the valve system to the titanium exhaust. The vacuum pump applies vacuum to the exhaust valves, allowing them to be opened and closed with the push of a button.

The new exhaust from Valvemaster sounds amazing! When the valves are open, it is loud enough to put a smile on your face, but not so loud it becomes annoying when driving.

After installing the Valvemaster exhaust, Evan proceeds to install an aftermarket steering wheel from Carbontatsic. Evan quickly removed the factory airbag, unbolted the stock steering wheel, and installed the new Carbontastic steering wheel. The leather and carbon fiber on the Carbontatsic steering wheel made a nice touch to the interior of the GT-R. Check it out for yourself in the video below!
